Local 53 is saddened to learn that former NABET/NBC member Reed Howard passed away on May 27^th.  Reed started his career with NBC in August of 1969.   He was a camera operator throughout most of his thirty-year career with NBC.  He worked on many studio productions in addition to doing live sports remotes.  He will truly be missed.  An open memorial is planned for August 20, 2022 in Simi Valley.  Please click the link for information on the memorial.

Program Description:

Local 53 will reimburse members seventy-five percent (75%) or up to a maximum of $2,000.00 per year for approved training costs and there are no limitations on the number of courses you can attend in a calendar year.

Eligibility:

You must be an active Local 53 member in good standing for one (1) full year and continue to be in good standing until the last day of your training. If for any reason you fall into bad standing, after you have been approved, your application will be revoked immediately.

You must complete the enclosed training application form and return it to the NABET-CWA Local 53 Union office for approval. If you need an application call the Union office. Please note that the Local 53 President must approve all applications prior to training.

Reimbursement:

Upon completion of your approved class you will need to submit proof of payment and a copy of your certificate of completion to the Local 53 office in order to get reimbursed.

Note: Any software purchased and reimbursed by this program will be retained by the Union after completion of the course.
