CWA members, their spouses, children and grandchildren, including those of retired or deceased members may apply.  Applicants must be high school graduates or at least high school students who will graduate during the year in which they apply. 



Undergraduate and graduate students returning to schooling may also apply.  Prior winners may not reapply.

Sixteen (16) two-year scholarships, to be paid at the rate of $4,000 annually, are awarded each year to applicants from the U.S.A. and Canada. Winners, selected in a lottery drawing, also will receive  second-year scholarships of the same amount contingent upon satisfactory academic accomplishment. Part-time students, less than 12 credits, will receive half of the scholarship monies.


Applications are accepted during the months of November through March. Final deadline is April 30, 2021.





1.     The scholarship is open to all active members in good standing, active retirees, and

        their sons and daughters who are either in, or about to enter, an accredited college or trade school.


2.     Applicants who are in high school must be graduating in 2020.


3.     The award a one-time $1,000.00 payment to be used for tuition or other expenses to the school designated

        by the winner.

This is a merit based scholarship.  Once the first application has been returned to the NABET-CWA offices, a second application will be mailed to the student.  The student must complete the forms and submit a 500-1000 word essay, transcripts, and other supporting materials.  Good luck!

Open to sons and daughters of active, retired or deceased members of NABET-CWA Local 53, $1,000 scholarships each per academic year for a maximum of four (4) years.  These scholarships are awarded separately by lottery in mid-April.  Applicants must be students in a high school class graduating in 2020. Final deadline is April 3, 2020.
